What you’ll build and learn

A child who handles and raises exceptions, writes generators and decorators, designs a family of classes with inheritance, encapsulation, abstract bases and operator methods, uses regular expressions, files, CSV and a SQLite database — and has built six complete programs that separate rules, input, storage and display.

Errors and Exceptions
Syntax errors versus exceptions; try and except; catching the exception you expect by name and letting the rest through; else and finally; raising your own with raise; and the pattern every program needs: ask until the input is good.

Iterators and Generators
What a for loop really does: iter() and next(), StopIteration; a class with __iter__ and __next__; a generator function with yield that pauses and remembers; generators with loops; generator expressions; and why a generator can be infinite without running out of memory.

Closures and Decorators
A function inside a function; returning the inner one and finding it still remembers — a closure; functions as arguments; a decorator that wraps a function to add behaviour; the @ syntax; decorators for functions with any arguments; chaining two; and @property for a computed attribute with a checked setter.

Inheritance
A child class gets everything the parent has; overriding a method; super() to extend rather than replace; the kinds of inheritance — single, multilevel, hierarchical, multiple; isinstance and issubclass; and the method resolution order that decides which method runs.

Encapsulation and Abstraction
Keeping data safe inside an object: single-underscore protected and double-underscore private names, name mangling, getters and setters, why a setter can say no; then abstraction: an abstract base class from abc with @abstractmethod that every child must fill in, and why that makes a family of classes safe to use.

Polymorphism and Dunder Methods
One name, many forms: len() on a list and a string; two unrelated classes with the same method used by one function; a child overriding a parent; then the dunder methods behind Python's own syntax — __str__ and __repr__ for printing, __add__ for +, __eq__ and __lt__ for comparing and sorting, __len__, __getitem__ for indexing — so your objects behave like built-ins.

Project: Snake
The snake game from class, rebuilt for the browser: a grid drawn by the turtle, a Snake class whose body is a list of cells, a step that adds a head and drops the tail, turning with w/a/s/d without reversing, walls and self-collision, food from random that grows the snake — played one move per input, so every rule is visible.

Regular Expressions
Patterns that match text: the re module; findall, search, match, split and sub; the metacharacters — character sets, ranges, . ^ $ * + ? and {n}; \d \w \s; groups with brackets and the match object's group, start, end and span; raw strings; and the everyday jobs — pull the numbers out, check a phone number, tidy the spaces.

File Handling
Reading and writing files: open with r, w, a and x; read, readline, readlines and looping over a file; write and writelines; the with statement that closes for you; tell and seek; os.path.exists and os.remove; and the csv module for rows of data — building a notes file and a marks register the program can read back next run.

SQLite Databases
A database in one file with sqlite3: connect and cursor; CREATE TABLE with column types; INSERT with ? placeholders — never with f-strings; commit; SELECT with fetchall and fetchone, WHERE and ORDER BY; UPDATE and DELETE; and the shape of a small app: a class for the record, functions for each operation.

Project: Ticket Booking
The bus ticket booking system from class, built properly: routes as data, a Passenger and a Booking class, fares with the class discount rules, input that cannot crash the program (exceptions), a menu loop, and every booking saved to a CSV file the program reads back on the next run.

Project: Paint
The paint app from class as a command-driven drawing program: typed commands like red, size 5, forward 100, circle 40 and fill are parsed, looked up in a dictionary of handler functions and run by the turtle; a Painter class holds the state; unknown or badly formed commands are explained, not crashed; undo replays the command history; and save writes the drawing as a script.

Project: Tic-tac-toe on the Canvas
The tkinter tic-tac-toe from class, on the turtle canvas: a Board class that owns the nine cells and knows the winning lines, drawing the grid, an X and an O with the turtle at a cell, a move typed as a number, a winner and tie check, the computer player from Intermediate as a class, and a Game class that runs it all.

Revision
The Revision-3 question sets from class, worked in the notebook: string and regex problems — middle characters, mixed strings, balanced strings, counting characters, sum of digits in a string, punctuation to #; OOP problems — the Vehicle family with a class attribute and an overridden fare; database problems — hospital and doctor tables, queries by id, by specialty and salary, and an UPDATE; and a few list and number extras.

Project: Sign-up and Attendance
The sign-up page and attendance system from class as one console app: a users table in SQLite, sign-up that checks the email with a regex and refuses duplicates, a password stored as a hash never as text, log-in that checks it, an attendance table with today's date from datetime, a report per user, and the whole thing behind a menu — plus a take-home page on keeping your projects in Git and GitHub.
